How To Upgrade Sky Digibox Software Applications
From time to time Sky release software updates for their Sky boxes, the main purpose of these updates is to add new features to your Sky box and/or make changes, tweaks and improvements to the look and functionality of the Sky Guide. Apr 02, 2008 Can any one tell me if I can upgrade my Sky+ Digibox to the latest version firmware using the switch on with backup button press facility? I have a Pace pvr1 with which originally had a 40Gb hard disk in and now has a 160Gb hard disk installed after the original failed.
It depends upon what type of Digibox you mean - It is not possible with Sky Digiboxes, which can only be updated 'On Air', but most proper Receivers can indeed be updated via Internet resources and a Null Modem Cable. Sky Boxes are severely crippled in terms of functionality and flexibility and are often of poor quality. They are built down to a (cheap) price and rendered 'idiot proof' so that punters cannot do anything worthwhile with them. My advice to you is to get a non-Sky Receiver, obviously depending upon your viewing needs (ie No FTV or Subscription Channels). Hi Rai uno we have posted quite a lot about problems with digiboxes. Have you any idea what has happend to my 2600c1 As i have said before when i first recieved it from a seller off Ebay it worked could get all Chanels epg and radio but kept losing them after a few days, was on old software 3.2.11.
So when rebooting i got all chanels back just to lose them after a few days. I tried to force an update many times, after about 3 weeks of this, i could only get epg 101 - 203 and no radio chanels, and then about 4 days ago a reboot only gives me epg 101 - 109, yesterday i was only getting epg 101 and 102 nearly all gone, seems to be getting worse. Do you with your experience that there is a chance that an up an comming sky update will cure this or do you think this dox is a lost cause. All the best Thomas.
